Limited options
It's hard to remember a time before unsplash.com. Stock images were uninspired, limited, and overused. In the mockup phase of a project, my designs frustratingly suffered from complacent visuals. As a self-taught designer, I felt an increasing urge to find a way to give back.

Let them make magic
I began to release 7 photos a week via an email newsletter. By a stroke of luck, my site was placed in a top 10 Creative Commons resource post on medium.com. Ever since it has snowballed.
With over 15,000 + downloads a month through my personal site and others like unsplash.com, it has become one of my most rewarding projects to date.
